Volunteers sought in fight against cancer
Volunteers who want to be part of the fight against breast cancer
can participate in a volunteer orientation from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 15.
Prospective volunteers will learn about the community programs
offered by the foundation and ways to get involved. The Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission is to eradicate breast
cancer as a life-threatening disease. One of its biggest annual
events, the County Race for the Cure, will take place Sept. 28 in
Newport Beach. The volunteer orientation will be at the foundation’s
office at 3191-A Airport Loop Drive in Costa Mesa. Reservations are

Azzoni, von Gremp to perform at library
The Azzoni sisters and vocalist Brenda von Gremp will present
works written for voice, violin and piano at a free musicale at 3
p.m. Jan. 12 at the Newport Beach Central library, 1000 Avocado Ave.
Pianist Christine Azzoni Dow is an associate faculty member at Irvine
Valley College and principal organist at Mission Basilica San Juan
Capistrano. Violinist Sandra Azzoni Wood is on the faculty of Santa
Margarita High School and conductor of that school’s award-winning
orchestra. Soprano Brenda von Gremp is choir director of Mission
