* Park Avenue: A resident reported that two black dogs were loose
in the 2000 block at 8:04 a.m. An animal services officer transported
them to the shelter.
* South Coast Highway/Point Place: A resident reported smoke
coming from a house near the intersection at 8:48 a.m. A road crew
was kicking up dust as they paved a street in Three Arch Bay.
* Glenneyre Street: A suspicious odor was reported in the 400
block at 9:43 a.m. Firefighters asked the residents to vacate the
home because of a strong solvent smell.
* Irvine Cove: A resident reported that water was filling up in
the downstairs of the home in the 100 block at 3:50 p.m.
* Ridge Route Drive: A driver reported that a cat had been hit by
a car in the 23000 block at 5:39 p.m. It was taken to Mission Viejo
Animal Hospital.
* High Drive: A residential burglary was reported in the 100
block at 11:01 p.m. Someone took a laptop computer valued at $4,500.
* Cozumel Street: A resident reported that someone was knocking
on the sliding glass door of her home in the 100 block at 11:47 p.m.
She locked herself in the room and police checked the vicinity, but
found nothing.
FRIDAY
* Forest Avenue: Someone tried to remove glass from the front
door in the 200 block at 11:33 a.m. It was not known if the person
entered the business.
* Ocean Avenue: A restaurant manager called police when someone
was throwing things at the window in the 200 block at 1:48 a.m.
SATURDAY
* Poplar Street: A structure fire was reported in the 400 block
at 9:12 a.m. The house was under construction, and the preliminary
cause is rags left on the site. The fire was contained at 10:23 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
* Baja Street: A resident complained of a barking dog that had
been making noise all day long in the 1000 block at 3:29 p.m.
* Bluebird Canyon Drive: A resident reported that a man was
driving by and videotaping the street in the 300 block at 4:08 p.m.
The driver was gone when officers arrived.
* Ocean Avenue: An officer found people drinking in public in the
200 block at 3:43 p.m. A 60-year-old Laguna man was arrested on
suspicion of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
* Gaviota Drive: A vehicle theft was reported in the 700 block at
8:14 p.m. A woman left her purse in an unlocked U-Haul and returned
to find it missing. She lost $100 and credit cards.
* South Coast Highway: A patron called police to complain that
the store would not accept his identification in the 30000 block at
9:52 p.m. The officer escorted the patron off the property and asked
him not to come back.
* South Crescent Bay Beach: An officer on foot patrol came upon
two couples drinking on the beach at 10:13 p.m. He arrested a
19-year-old Bellflower woman on an outstanding warrant out of
Lakewood for larceny.
* Lower Cliff Drive: A tow truck driver called police when the
owner of a car he was trying to remove was getting hostile in the 200
block at 11:11 p.m.
SUNDAY
* South Coast Highway/Cress Street: Police responded to a
possible suicide call near the intersection at 12:21 a.m. They found
the woman on the beach and transported her to South Coast Medical
Center for a 72-hour hold.
* South Coast Highway/Lagunita Lane: An officer spotted a man
chasing a woman down the street near the intersection at 3:15 a.m.
The officer called a taxi for the woman and sent her home to Costa
Mesa.
* Laguna Canyon Road/Canyon Acres Drive: A driver reported that a
black truck ran a red light and struck another car near the
intersection at 7 a.m. Officers arrested the 21-year-old Laguna
driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and for possession
of marijuana.
* Sleepy Hollow Lane: Firefighters and lifeguards responded to a
near-drowning victim in the 600 block at 9:50 a.m. The victim was
transported to Mission Hospital Regional Center via Mercy Air.
* Cliff Drive: A resident reported that her Toyota 4-Runner had
been keyed in the 100 block at 5 p.m.
* Main Beach: Beachgoers called police when they saw a man
drinking beer and trying to get into the water at 5:19 p.m.
Lifeguards contacted the man and asked him not to go in.
* South Coast Highway/7th Avenue: A resident called in a reckless
driver near the intersection at 7:39 p.m. When the driver pulled
over, the caller boxed her in until police arrived. A 39-year-old San
Clemente woman was at first arrested on suspicion of driving under
the influence. After she was searched, she was rearrested for
possession of a controlled substance.
MONDAY
* South Coast Highway: A manager called police when he noticed
someone was watching movies in a room that was supposed to be vacant
in the 600 block at 2:14 a.m. Police arrested a Dana Point resident
on suspicion for lodging without permission from the owner.
* Viejo Street: A resident reported that a neighbor falsely
accused him of letting air out of his tires in the 200 block at 8:53
a.m.
* Baja Street: A resident reported that the neighbor’s dog was
getting electrocuted by its shock collar in the 1000 block at 3:19
p.m. The caller believed that the wind and rain was causing the
collar to short out. An animal services officer responded to the
call.
* Catalina Avenue/Monterey Street: A driver reported a fallen
tree in the roadway near the intersection at 4:40 p.m.
* North Coast Highway/Boat Canyon Drive: A small rock slide
closed the northbound No. 2 lane near the intersection at 4:26 p.m. A
parked vehicle was hit by some of the rocks, which measured 2 feet in
diameter.
* Brooks Street: A woman called police when her fireplace was
smoking up the house in the 500 block at 5:16 p.m. She was unable to
put the fire out and had small children in the house. Firefighters
came to her aid.
* Oak Street: A laundry room was reported flooded in the 500
block at 7:52 a.m.
TUESDAY
* South Coast Highway/Montage Resort Drive: A resident reported
hearing a car crash in the area at 2:07 a.m. Officers pulled over a
driver who claimed that the dent on the right front side of his car
was from another accident. After conducting a field sobriety test,
officers arrested the 27-year-old Laguna Beach resident for driving
under the influence and held his vehicle for a hit-and-run
investigation.
* Duarte Way: A resident reported that the backyard pool was
overflowing with water in the 2000 block at 5:49 a.m. City workers
determined that a city water line broke.
* South Coast Highway: A hit-and-run was reported in the 500
block at 1:02 p.m. A parked vehicle was hit by a maroon colored car
with no license plate. The collision caused damage to the left side
mirror.
* Laguna Canyon Road: A driver was transported to South Coast
Medical Center after getting into a traffic collision in the 20000
block at 3:19 p.m.
* Police Station: An elderly woman came to the station with her
seeing-eye dog after she missed the last bus at 10:21 p.m. An officer
gave her a ride home.
WEDNESDAY
* North Coast Highway: A driver hit a parked car in the 700 block
at 12:20 a.m. The driver tried to run from police but was arrested on
suspicion of driving under the influence.
