Earl Reese Thompson
Longtime resident of Laguna Beach Earl R. Thompson, better known
as “Bud,” died on Nov. 14 from congestive heart failure. He was 69
years old.
He was born in Fayetteville, N.C., but came to Laguna Beach in
1954. He worked as a builder in this area for the last 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; his son Eric; two grandsons,
Barrett and Courtland; one sister, Helen Brooks; and a brother,
Baker.
Memorial Services were held Nov. 23 in the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses in Laguna Beach.
Kurt Sense
Kurt Sense died on Nov. 10 of pulmonary disease. He was 80 years
old.
Resident of Laguna Niguel for 32 years, he worked as a mechanical
engineer.
Mr. Sense is survived by his daughters, Sherri Wilkins, Karole
Chesser and Donna McCreery.
John Yergat
Originally from Pennsylvania, John Yergat moved to Laguna Beach in
1960.
Upon his arrival, he entered the life insurance business and
became a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table for nine
years. He was also named Outstanding Orange County Life Insurance
Agent in 1968.
Mr. Yergat was active in Laguna Beach community affairs as
secretary of the Masonic Lodge of Laguna Beach, a member of Laguna
Beach Lions Club and a member of the Kiwanis Club, for which he
served as program chairman.
He is survived by his wife, Lou; two sons, Robert and John Gill;
and his five grandchildren.
