HB South Chargers down Fullerton
An all-around team effort spelled the difference for the South HB
Chargers last Sunday as they recorded their first win of the season,
beating Fullerton, 41-33, in a National Junior Basketball boys’
sixth-grade All-Net contest.
Dean Wall led the way for the Chargers with 12 points, Connor
Hughes and Cole Farmer each contributed nine points, and Sean Guite
finished with five.
Doug Hansen led the team in blocked shots and rebounding, and
Scott Marcin came up with several steals on the defensive side of the
court.
At the Fifth-Grade boys’ Southern California Sectional All-Star
tournament:
HB South 60, El Modena 39
HB South got its fastbreak in high gear and rolled to victory.
Scott Marcin paced the attack with 12 points. Connor Hughes scored
10 points and pounded the boards, and Austin Prather and Colton
Larson each added eight points.
Irvine 54, HB South 31
Irvine used its height advantage to break open a close game in the
second half in the sectional final.
The loss left HB South just one win short of advancing to the
State finals.
Hughes and Dean Wall shared HB South scoring honors, with 10
points each, Larson scored 8 points, and Hansen and Kekai Kamai each
scored key baskets for HB South.
