‘Eaters sign 7-foot prep
BREN EVENTS CENTER -- Jim Paullin, a 7-foot center from Battle
Ground High School in Washington, has signed a national letter of
intent with the UC Irvine men’s basketball program, Anteater Coach
Pat Douglass announced.
Paullin averaged 13.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as a junior
last season.
“Jim is a versatile big man who runs the court well, has good
hands and exhibits a soft shooting touch,” Douglass said.
“He falls in line with our recent depth and the caliber of player
we have had at the post position.”
Paullin is the second 7-footer from Battle Ground that UCI has
signed in the past two years.
Ryan Codi, a 7-1 freshman center for the Anteaters, hails from
Battle Ground but attended Prairie High School in Brush Prairie,
Wash.
Codi signed with UCI in the spring of 2001 and was a redshirt with
the Anteater program last season.
The Anteaters, as they often do with freshmen, will most likely
redshirt Paullin for a year’s seasoning.
