Sea Kings win the flip

Corona del Mar High’s boys water polo team won Sunday’s coin flip
and will host No. 3-seeded Harvard-Westlake in the CIF Division I
Playoffs Wednesday, at Newport Harbor.
The No. 2-seeded Sea Kings, who split two games with
Harvard-Westlake in the regular season, edged Foothill in the
quarterfinals, 6-5, while Harvard-Westlake eliminated San Clemente,
13-8.
In girls volleyball, both local entries are on the road Tuesday
night, automatically.
Newport Harbor’s No. 1-seeded Sailors travel for the second
straight game in Division II-AA play with a semifinals match at Mark
Keppel in Alhambra, starting at 7 p.m.
Harbor swept at Cathedral City, while Keppel put away host Santa
Fe in three.
Corona del Mar, seeded No. 3 in Division III-A volleyball play, is
at Harvard-Westlake for a semifinals match. Harvard-Westlake swept La
Canada and CdM swept Santa Ynez in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
In the tennis playoffs, Corona del Mar’s third-seeded Sea Kings
won the coin-flip and will host Peninsula in the Division I
quarterfinals.
Corona del Mar was a 16-2 winner at Aliso Niguel Saturday, and
Peninsula handled Harvard-Westlake, 14-4.
Sage Hill was also a coin-flip winner and avoids a long trek.
Santa Maria, which was an 11-7 winner over Gladstone, must travel to
the Newport Coast school on Tuesday. Sage Hill advanced with a 15-3
win at Azusa.
