Sage Hill marches into the quarterfinals

Sage Hill High’s girls tennis team punished host Azusa, 15-3,
advancing to the CIF Southern Section Division V quarterfinals on
Tuesday against Santa Maria, which will require a require a coin flip
to determine the home team.
It was business as usual for the Lightning as freshmen Katie
McKitterick (50-4) and Kellie Ammerman (50-2) were virtually
untouchable, and the doubles team of Jessica Tsoong and Stephanie
Chen swept the competition.
Sage Hill is 15-3. Azusa exits with a 13-17 record.

Costa Mesa High’s girls tennis team dropped a 12-6 decision at Savanna High in Anaheim on Saturday in a CIF Southern Section
Division V second-round duel as a combination of heat, a blister and
a broken string leading to a new racket all contributed to make it a
forgettable day for the Golden West League champion Mustangs, who
finished 13-6 overall.

Newport Harbor High’s Sailors lost, 14-4, at Dana Hills in a
second-round CIF Division I match Saturday, exiting the playoffs with
a 12-8 record.

Corona del Mar High’s No. 3-seeded Sea Kings traveled to Aliso
Niguel and captured a 14-4 verdict Saturday in the second round of
the CIF Division I Playoffs.
Junior standout Brittany Holland and senior sensation Taylynn
Snyder both swept their singles matches and the Yelsey sisters, Anne
and Rachel, swept in doubles, according to Coach Andy Stewart.
Individual scores were not available.
Corona del Mar (17-3) will meet Peninsula (17-2) in the
quarterfinals on Tuesday at a site to be determined by coin flip. CdM
defeated Peninsula earlier in the season.
