Diane DeBilzan Gallery will celebrate its first anniversary with a

benefit event for the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center.

Artist William DeBilzan will present a new body of work specifically

for the evening and former New York City ballet dancer Treva Swersky

FOREIGN AND INDIE

FILM SERIES

Regency Theatres will present “The Mesmerist,” a spooky comedy

based on an Edgar Allan Poe story and set in 1954. A doctor convinces

a dying man’s family to let him to put the man in a trance as he

takes his final breaths. The film will show at 11 a.m. today and Sunday at the Laguna South Coast Cinema, 162 S. Coast Highway. Ticket

THE CRUCIBLE

Laguna Beach High School’s Park Avenue Players will present Arthur

Miller’s “The Crucible.” Directed by Mark Dressler and Brandon

Leighton, the play explores the parallels between Senator McCarthy

and the House Un-American Activities Committee’s crusade against

supposed communist sympathizers and the earlier horror of the Salem

witch trials. The play will show at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16, 21, 22 and 23;

and at 3 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Artists’ Theatre. Tickets will be on

sale one hour before each performance. General seating is $5 for

HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE

Laguna Beach High School will host a holiday boutique from 10 a.m.

Len’s Wine Cite will feature new collections of work by painter,

Fitz Maurice and sculptor, Nick Hernandez, Maurice will introduce her

latest series of drawings and oil on canvas paintings in a collection

called, “Tree Series.” Hernandez will feature 15 of his hand-carved

wood sculptures. The collection will be available through Jan. 7,

Laguna Culinary Arts will present a class titled “Thanksgiving

SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL WINTER FANTASY

The show will offer Santa, snow, holiday entertainment, outdoor

cafes and more starting today. Laguna residents are admitted for free

from 3 to 7 p.m. Mayor Wayne Baglin will light the community tree at

5 p.m. and the Top of the World Elementary School Honor Choir will

provide entertainment. The festival grounds will be open from 10 a.m.

Wild Oats will host Cardio Vision to provide a five-minute
