Two arrested in armed robbery
Two men were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery Friday.
Marco Vazquez, 20, and Mauricio Agurto, 18, both of Whittier, were
arrested after 30-year-old Jason Marino was robbed at gunpoint while
walking westbound on Pacific Coast Highway near 6th Street at 1 a.m.
Police believe the men pulled up behind Marino and demanded his
wallet. One of the men was brandishing a semiautomatic handgun.
Marino gave them his wallet and the men fled westbound on Pacific
Coast Highway.
Police spotted a vehicle matching the description given by Marino
driving northbound on the San Diego Freeway a short time later. They
stopped the vehicle and took the men into custody, Huntington Beach
Police Sgt. Gary Meza said.
The men were later booked and held at the Huntington Beach Police
Department jail.
Police believe that the men may be responsible for a similar
robbery that took place in Brea earlier that evening.
