Four teams hold down rankings

In regular season play, which concludes today for several teams,
Laguna Beach High had four squads hold down Top 10 rankings, as
revealed Tuesday by the CIF Southern Section office.
The highest ranked team was the girls’ tennis squad, which came in
at No. 3 in Division I.
The Breakers, 16-4 overall, were the highest rated Pacific Coast
League team, with rivals Corona del Mar and University coming in
ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.
Laguna Beach on Tuesday downed University, 12-6, in their final
league match, running their league record to 8-2.
The key match had been postponed last Monday, due to darkness. The
Breakers led at the time of the postponement, 7-5.
The boys’ water polo team, which visits Servite (26-2) today, came
in at No. 8 in the latest Division I poll.
The Friars are the top-ranked team in Division II.
Boys’ cross-country also held a high ranking -- a No. 5 position
in Division IV.
The Breakers’ girls’ volleyball team, which lost in four games
Tuesday night to Tesoro, was ranked eighth in Division IV-AA.
