UCI has plenty of Anteaters

Golly, there sure are a lot of Anteaters around.

This fall, UC Irvine has experienced a record enrollment increase

-- some 1,900 students, or 8.7% -- that is solid proof the

university’s reputation and academic successes are no mystery. Noted

for both success in science and writing, UCI has inched its way into

the top ranks of public universities, arguably on par with UC

Berkeley and UCLA.

The increases are at all levels: undergraduates, graduates and

transfer students. There are now almost 24,000 students at UCI.

Not to be outdone, Orange Coast College also continues to add

students left and right. Its numbers are between 28,000 and 29,000,

drawn no doubt by OCC’s reputation for being a top funnel for

students wanting to end their college careers in the University of

California system.

Wonder how many start at OCC and end at UCI?
