Women take second, men finish fourth

Golden West women’s water polo team bested Orange Coast for the
second time this season, this time a 13-6 triumph in the final game
of the Orange Empire Conference Championships Saturday at Saddleback
College.
Golden West jumped out to a 6-2 cushion in the first period and
never looked back.
“We scored first they but they turned around and went off for four
in a row and just out-countered us,” said OCC coach Mike Giles.
Shari Meyer led Coast with two goals while Sarah Mitchell, Nicole
Sonnenfeld, Courtney Robertson and Sara Natalizio each scored one
goal for the Pirates, 25-8, 7-2 in the OEC. Goalkeeper Heather Deyden
made eight saves.

Fullerton wins, 12-1
Orange Coast College men finished fourth at the conference
championships, dropping their game to Fullerton Saturday, 12-1.
Billy Jolly scored the lone goal for Coast, 14-18, 4-5 in the OEC,
and goalkeeper Kile Baker made four saves for the Pirates.
