Four Orange Coast College construction technology instructors and
the vice president of California Pacific Homes received the Building
Industry Assn. of Orange County’s prestigious “Ruby Slippers” award
Monday.
Ravin Carlson, David Rodriguez, Dean Robert H. Mendoza Jr. and
Robert Cavanaugh, along with California Pacific Homes Vice President
Jon Robertson, received the honor.
The award, created in 1999, honors persons or organizations not
working directly in the real estate industry that demonstrate an
innovative or extraordinary commitment to illuminating challenges in
the home building industry or solutions to crucial housing issues in
Orange County.
The association recognized the Construction Technology Department
at OCC for having the largest and most comprehensive training program
in residential construction and management in the United States.
Several executives of leading home building companies have
graduated from the Construction Tech program, including Richard
Douglass, the South Coast division president of Centex Homes.
