How should Costa Mesa handle substandard housing?

We should definitely not follow the failed Santa Ana plan as
proposed by Katrina Foley. The current plan should be enforced
vigorously, especially against “off-site” owners. Fines should be
mandatory, with no chance for appeal for the worst offenders.

Do whatever it takes to enforce the codes, all the codes,
including outdoor storage of junk cars.

Enforce the laws that are currently on the book, the regulations
and rules, and enforce them uniformly, not just on rental property
but all property in the city. You’ll find many owner-occupied
residences and commercial buildings that look just as unappealing and
probably are just as unsafe as any rental housing.
It is not just a rental property issue. It should be citywide and
it should not just be a politicized issue.
