New look at still life

The Laguna College of Art and Design’s new exhibit “Unconventional
Views -- New Concepts in Still Life Paintings” presents a look at a
unique perspective of still life paintings through the eyes of four
American artists.
The exhibit curated by Koplin Gallery for the college opens today,
showing the work of artists Steven Albert, David Ligare, Rebecca
Morales and Ron Rizk, whose work breaks away from the stereotype of
the old mores of that genre through different interpretations of
contemporary life.
As part of the exhibit on Sunday, there will be a free classical
music concert by the Karen Lak Trio, performing works by Mozart
Brahams, Haydn, Fritz Kriesler, Chopin and Massenet on violin and
cello.
An artist reception for the exhibit will be on Thursday, Nov. 7,
from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
“Unconventional Views -- New Concepts in Still Life Paintings” is
a free exhibit that runs through Dec. 15. Laguna College of Art &
Design is at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road. Information: 376-6000.
