Steinhaus scores two in Ice Breakers win
Matthew Steinhaus scored two goals and assisted a third Saturday
to lead the Ice Breakers past the Raptors, 4-1, in an AYSO Region 117
boys’ Under-10 Division match.
Trevor Verone scored the match’s first goal, shooting into the net
off a cross by Steinhaus. It became 2-0 right before the first
quarter ended when Steinhaus scored from the right side of the field.
The Raptors retaliated in the second period on a goal by Matthew
Stickler.
Steinhaus pushed the Ice Breakers’ cushion back to a two-goal lead
when he scored in the second half on a nice pass by Gavin Perdomo.
Garrett Hickman fought his way through the crowd to score a late
goal to ice the game.
Matthew Bordas, Mitchell Phillipy, Cole Souza and Tommy Vollum all
contributed to the Ice Breakers’ offensive attack, and Nick Frens,
Kane Ordonez and Michael Rowe anchored the defense.
Frens, Perdomo, Phillipy and Verone shared goaltending duties for
the Ice Breakers.

Quick Chicks 5, Stars and Strikers 0
Five players scored as the Quick Chicks ran their record to 7-0-1.
Alison Hensley, Pouneh Radparvar, Braelyn Snook, Karlee Hodgman
and Alex Long all scored.
The defense got the shutout behind the play of Jessica Parker,
Hayley Townsend, Kristy Verone, and Kimberly Kurdziel, and Kailey
Ivers, Lisa Fleck, Niki Cannon and Kailey Ivers added mid-field
support.
Under-10 Division
Bombers 3, H.B. Slammers 1
Kim Choto’s goal in the match’s opening moments got the Bombers
off and running at Gisler School.
Emily Walling scored in the third period and Nicole Allen added a
penalty kick goal to complete the Bombers’ scoring.
Hannah Mais scored in the fourth period for the H.B. Slammers.
Bombers 4, Blue Crush 1
Following a well-played defensive match in the first period, the
Bombers broke loose with three quick goals at Gisler School.
Emily Walling scored the Bombers’ first goal and Kim Choto netted
the next three.
