Raising funds, meeting voters
Barbara Diamond
As of Sept. 30, incumbent Toni Iseman had raised the most money:
$22,707, but had spent less than $10,000. Elizabeth Pearson listed
$20,214 in contributions, with expenditures of $13,375. Melissa
O’Neal raised $5,048 and spent $3,965. Councilman Steven Dicterow
collected $850 in financial contributions and loaned himself $700,
according to his campaign statement.
The most recent campaign statements were due after publication
deadline for the Coastline.
Getting together
Pearson had scheduled a luncheon For Women Only on Thursday at the
Laguna Beach Woman’s Club, a “Meet and Greet” opportunity to share
ideas and concerns. The cost was $5, but anyone who had reached the
maximum $250 donation to Pearson was invited as a guest.
Incumbent Dicterow is working out the details for a get-together
Oct. 27 at Madison Square & Garden Cafe to celebrate his eight years
on the council and to raise funds for another four years.
Getting the vote
Top of the World Neighborhood Assn. board is scheduled to meet
Tuesday to determine if and who to endorse in the Nov. 5 election.
TOWNA sponsored a forum Oct. 7 in the City Council Chamber with
Temple Hills Community Assn.
Carolyn Wood of THCA said she didn’t expect that group to make an
endorsement.
Laguna Beach Seniors Inc. presented the final City Council
Candidates Forum Monday at the Veterans Memorial Building on Legion
Street.
One candidate opined that it was the biggest crowd that attended
any of the forums. Traditionally, a larger percentage of seniors vote
than any other age group.
Dr. Richard French, who has helped the seniors raise funds for a
new center, moderated the forum.
Absentee ballots
Absentee ballot application forms are included in the sample
ballots, which should have reached registered voters by now. Requests
for the ballots must include the name, address and signature of the

Applicants must be registered. Oct. 21 is the last day to register
for this election.
Absentee ballots may be dropped off at any polling place or cast
