Lions fall in 4

The Vanguard women’s volleyball team opened with a 30-28 victory
over Azusa Pacific, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, but the Lions lost the
next three, 15-30, 21-30, 17-30 in Golden State Athlete Conference
action Thursday.
Debby Baeder, a 5-foot-8 junior outside hitter, led the Lions with
14 kills, and she also had 14 digs. Freshman Keri DeHaas added 10
kills and 10 digs for Vanguard (7-14, 3-10 in the GSAC). Lion
sophomore Lacey Roberts contributed 18 set assists and teammate
Jennifer Johnson had 17 assists.
Freshman Kristin White led the Lions with 16 digs.
APU, which has won nine straight, improved to 15-4, 10-2.
