Church volunteers are invited to attend the annual Mass and
banquet of the Council of Orange County, Society of St. Vincent de
Paul this Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. with Mass at Sts. Simon and
Jude Catholic Church at 20444 Magnolia St.
The annual meeting is a gathering of all volunteer members at
parish-level conferences throughout Orange County.
The mission of the society is to assist the poor and needy.
Huntington Beach has 69 volunteer members who provided more than
3,100 hours of aid to more than 2,700 persons -- expending $150,000
to meet needs.
Families in need are visited in their homes by two-person teams
that assist with needs and emergency food and shelter.
Conference Presidents Gene Huettner, Pete Andres and Jean Moore,
all Huntington Beach residents, oversee these operations.
Bishops Tod Brown and Jaime Soto will celebrate the Mass and
banquet, which all Vincentians are welcome to attend.
