Vanguard topples Cal Baptist Lancers
Vanguard University avenged an early-season loss to the California
Baptist Lancers with a 24-30, 30-23, 30-26, 23-30, 15-13 victory in Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball Tuesday night in
the winner’s gym.
In the deciding rally game, Vanguard came back from a 5-1 deficit
to tie it at 7 and traded leads until Livia Peace’s kill gave the
Lions a 14-13 edge. Vanguard claimed the win on the next serve.
Jennifer Geisbauer led the Lions with 16 kills and Jennifer
Johnson had a season-high 45 assists to help Vanguard improve to 3-9
in the GSAC, and 7-13 overall. Debby Baeder had 12 kills for VU. Keri
DeHaas and Kristin White picked up 26 and 24 digs for the Lions, who
have now won more games than all of the ’01 campaign.
California Baptist fell to 11-12, 4-7 in the GSAC.
