The streak continues.
Laguna Beach’s eighth-grade All-Net boys’ basketball team remained
unbeaten, their most recent outing resulting in a 51-33 whipping of Villa Park in a National Junior Basketball game played last Sunday.
With big-man Bobby Monroe leading all scorers with 17 points and
Brian Delino next in line with 11, Laguna Beach ran its record to
6-0.
The 6-foot Monroe also pulled down 11 rebounds and Delino finished
with five.
Monroe was coming off a 25-point, 13-rebound and four-blocked shot
performance in last week’s 62-54 win at Whittier.
Laguna Beach rolled from the opening tip and sprinted to a
commanding, 14-3 lead by the end of the first quarter.
They extended the advantage to 31-9 at the half, then coasted over
the final two quarters.
Ian Butters controlled the game from his point guard position. He
scored nine points to go along with three rebounds and four assists.
Nathan Pickett’s outside jumper was falling and he finished with
eight points.
Chris Hyden contributed two points, five rebounds and three
assists.
