The Laguna South Coast Cinemas will present “Sordid Lives,” a film

about a family in a small Texas town preparing for the funeral of

their mother. The movie will show at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday as

Ensemble presented by Laguna Beach Live! The ensemble will perform

A TRIBUTE TO THE GREENBELT STEWARDS

The Laguna Greenbelt Inc. will host the annual Dilley Dinner at

6:30 p.m. at Tivoli Terrace. At the dinner there will be a program to

honor four docent volunteers: Eleanor Henry, Marv Johnson, Niko

Theris and Jon Wilkerson. The dinner is $12 per person and $20 for

WYLAND ANNUAL

FALL SHOW

Marine life artist and muralist Wyland will host the annual fall

gallery show from 6 to 10 p.m. Wyland will answer questions about his

background, the famous Whaling Wall murals and various art

‘ANASTASIA KRUPNIK’

The Laguna Playhouse will open the Youth Theatre season with

“Anastasia Krupnik.” Based on the title character of Lois Lowry’s

enormously popular series of books, Anastasia writes about her

schoolteacher, the new baby that will soon arrive in their family,

her silly grandmother and her crush on Washburn Cummings. The play

will run through Oct. 20. The playhouse is at 606 Laguna Canyon Road.

THE FOURTH ANNUAL CALIFORNIA CHOREOGRAPHERS

DANCE FESTIVAL

The festival will start at 9 a.m. at No Square Theatre’s rehearsal

space at 221 Broadway. Choreographers from all dance backgrounds will

be teaching master classes free to the public. Lula Washington and

Lila Zali, founder of Ballet Pacifica will be in attendance. This

event is made possible by grants from the City of Laguna Beach, Arts

THE ESTHER WELLS COLLECTION

The gallery will open the Autumn group exhibit, a collection of

new works by resident gallery artists in such media as oil,

watercolor, acrylic, stone, bronze, terra cotta and mixed media. A

Woody’s at the Beach will host a champagne brunch, fashion show

and art auction to benefit the Orange County Affiliate of the Susan

G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Guests will enjoy a three-course

gourmet brunch prepared by Woody’s at the Beach chef de cuisine, Jon

Hubbard; a women’s fashion show sponsored by Snob of Corona del Mar

and entertainment by classical and Spanish guitarist, Paul Galmarini.

The cost is $50 per person and major donor tables are available at

GREATEST TWITS

No Square Theatre will present, “Lagunatics 10 Greatest Twits” to

raise funds for the winter concert, children’s show and musicals. The

show will run at 8 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 20

at the Forum Theatre on the Festival of Arts grounds, 650 Laguna

Canyon Road. Tickets are $50 for Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 16 and

17. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18, 19, and 20, the show is

proceeded by a food and wine reception and tickets are $75.

CRYSTAL COVE INTERPRETIVE ASSN.

The Crystal Cove Interpretive Assn. will sponsor a talk about

wildlife rehabilitation at 7 p.m. at the El Moro Visitor Center. The

talk will focus on some of the park’s small mammals and why they’re

important in the local ecosystem. Then on Thursday, Oct. 31,

participants will have the opportunity to look for some of these

small mammals on the first Halloween Hike. Reservations for the hike
