SEPT. 27
* South Coast Highway/Diamond Street: A resident reported that
two men were throwing trash out of their vehicle near the
intersection at 8:17 a.m.
* Ocean Avenue: A bus driver reported that a transient threw a
milk shake at a bus in the 200 block at 10:11 a.m.
* Broadway: A manager contacted police after finding the cash
register short of $55 from the night before. He suspects an employee
took the money in the 200 block at 10:11 a.m.
* Jasmine Street: A locked vehicle was broken into by some means
and a purse stolen in the 400 block at 11:08 a.m. The victim reported
that $600 had been charged on her credit card.
* Egan Road: A resident reported that he heard his neighbor
making remarks about cutting down his tree in the 31000 block at
12:18 p.m. They have been in dispute over the tree because the
neighbor claims it is blocking his view.
* Forest Avenue: An artist displaying her work in France reported
that one of her paintings was stolen. She was advised by French
authorities to file a report in Laguna Beach.
* Ocean Avenue: A 57-year-old Laguna transient was arrested on
suspicion of public intoxication 200 block at 4:52 p.m. While he was
in custody he was arrested on suspicion of demolishing the jail and
for resisting arrest.
* Santa Cruz Street: A resident reported that she heard something
screaming in her backyard in the 1700 block at 11:35 p.m. She called
back and said that it was an animal.
SATURDAY
* Bent Street/Park Avenue: A resident complained about the noise
from the bike race being set up near the intersection at 4:27 a.m.
* Cresta Way: A resident reported his suspicions that someone
broke into his neighbor’s house in the 3000 block at 4:38 a.m.
* Third Street/Mermaid Street: Police responded to a bike versus
car collision near the intersection at 6:41 a.m. A 47-year-old Irvine
resident turned left and the 51-year-old Rancho Palos Verdes
bicyclist slammed into the side of the car. The bicyclist was treated
for scrapes and bruises on scene and the driver was cited for a
right-of-way violation.
* South Coast Highway: A resident reported an opossum stuck in a
trash can in the 1700 block at 8:18 a.m.
* Forest Avenue: A resident reported a crying child locked in a
parked vehicle in the 300 block at 4:03 p.m. When officers arrived
they advised the mother of the dangers of leaving a child in a car.
* South Coast Highway/Wesley Drive: A man in a wheelchair was
reported stuck in traffic near the intersection at 7:23 p.m.
* South Coast Highway/Diamond Street: A 79-year-old driver was
cited for unsafe speed after she rear-ended a car in the intersection
at 7:46 p.m.
SUNDAY
* Pearl Street: Firefighters responded to a medical aid call in
the 600 block at 12:19 a.m. When a fire truck was backing down the
street its right front bumper hit the left side of a parked pick-up
truck. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no injuries were
reported.
* Victoria Beach: A Laguna resident showed signs of neurological
defect after injuring his neck and back while swimming at 8:35 a.m.
The victim was transported to Mission Hospital via Mercy Air.
* North Coast Highway: A resident called police after a road rage
incident in the 400 block at 9:48 a.m. She feared the other driver
might hurt her when she pulled over to make a call.
* Skyline Drive: Officers responded to a burglary alarm in the
1300 block at 1:24 p.m. They found a raccoon caught in a live trap
and contacted animal control.
* Laguna Canyon Road: A nursery reported a petty theft after a
customer allegedly stole a pumpkin in the 20000 block at 1:21 p.m.
After the customer purchased some plants, an employee saw her cut a
pumpkin growing in a patch behind the nursery. Total loss: $1.
* Cozumel: Officers responded to a medical aid call in the 100
block at 7:12 p.m. They found a 2 1/2-month-old baby who appeared
sick. He was taken into protective custody and transported to
Orangewood.
* Laguna Canyon Road: A woman lost control of her car while
driving in the 2000 block at 9:02 p.m. Her car slipped off the road
and crashed into a fence and mailboxes. She complained of shoulder
and hip pain. She was not under the influence of alcohol or another
substance.
* South Coast Highway: A Laguna woman ran into a store and called
police in the 1000 block at 9:55 p.m. She claimed her boyfriend had
assaulted her and complained of a broken finger. She was transported
to South Coast Medical Center. The case is under investigation.
MONDAY
* Cozumel: A resident reported that someone came into his home
and stole his prescription glasses in the 100 block at 5:19 p.m.
* Riviera Drive: A homeowner reported that someone broke into a
home he’s planning to demolish in the 2000 block at 6:14 p.m. Nasty
messages were left on the walls and a model of the new home that the
owner plans to build was destroyed. When officers returned to
photograph the scene the messages had been cleaned away.
TUESDAY
* Skyline Drive: A resident reported that a 12-year-old boy was
shooting animals with a BB gun or a slingshot in the 1500 block at
3:49 p.m.
* South Coast Highway: A Mission Viejo resident was cited for
battery in the 31000 block at 8:49 p.m.
* Ocean Avenue: A 40-year-old Laguna Beach resident was cited for
possession of marijuana in the 200 block at 11:20 p.m.
