CANDIDATE FORUM
Village Laguna, in cooperation with the League of Women Voters,
will sponsor the fifth bi-annual City Council/School Board Candidates
Forum at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers, 505 Forest Ave. Cox
Communications will televise the debate on Channel 30. Each candidate
will have three minutes to make an opening statement, one minute to
respond to written questions from the audience and one minute for a

The City of Laguna Beach Recreation Department will hold a
beginning tap dance class at 8 p.m. in the recreation building at 515

HEARTSAVER CLASS
South Coast Medical Center will hold a “Heartsaver Class,” a
mandatory requirement for schoolteachers. This four-hour class is
good for the general public and will include instruction on “CPR” and
“Obstructed Airway Techniques” for adults and children 1 to 8 years
old. The minimum age of participants is 13 years. CPR cards will be
issued. The class will meet from 6 to 10 p.m. in the auditorium at
South Coast Medical Center, 31872 S. Coast Highway. Reservations are

WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE AND AWARENESS
The Laguna Beach Recreation Department will hold a Women’s
Self-Defense and Awareness. Taught by a female instructor, the
training will encourage students to develop personal safety habits
that reduce the risks of becoming a victim. The class is developed
for mature teens and adults. The class will take place from 8 to 9:15
p.m. every Wednesday at Lang Park gym. 21540 Wesley Drive. The class

The Laguna Beach PTA Council Parent Education Committee will hold
a session titled “Getting Out of the Spin Cycle: Getting Children to
Mind.” Sandy McDaniel, columnist for the Orange County Register and
author of “Recipes for Parenting,” will examine and demonstrate
emotionally and physically safe ways to discipline and work with
children. Check-in will start at 8 a.m. and the talk will begin at
