Robert C. Francy, a teacher and administrator within the
Newport-Mesa School District for 39 years, died early Thursday
morning as a result of a long battle with cancer.
Known primarily for his times as principal of Estancia High School
(1970-84), the Costa Mesa resident was one of the most popular
figures in Newport-Mesa history, serving in one capacity or another
at all four schools.
About 67, he leaves wife Phyllis of nearly 47 years, and daughters
Cara and Erin.
More information, as well as services, are expected to be
published in Saturday’s Daily Pilot.
