Alexa M. Burns, daughter of Colin and Hermine Burns of Huntington

Beach and Edison High School alums, graduated from Claremont McKenna

College at its 55th annual commencement in May. She graduated Phi

Beta Kappa with cum laude honors in her dual psychology/government

degree. Burns has returned to Huntington Beach where she works for

the Boeing Company in the Business Career Foundation Program....

Marina high school student, Eric Y. Taur son of Mei L. and Chuck C.

Taur of Huntington Beach recently participated in the U.S. Naval

Academy’s week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. During

the program Taur was introduced to academy life through a regime of

academics, physical training, intramural sports, sailing and

seamanship as well as leadership and training and social

activities.... Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Steve T. Matsui, son of

Takako K and Takeshi E. Matsui of Huntington Beach, recently returned

from a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf

while aboard the USS John C. Stennis. During deployment Matsui’s ship

traveled more than 62,000 miles, launched more than 9,600 aircraft

and dropped more than 275,000 pounds of ordinance....
