With solid play on both sides of the ball contributing to their
success, the Huntington Beach Pee Wee Gold Chargers Pop Warner
football team launched their 2002 season with an 18-14 victory over
the Canyon Hills Jaguars last Saturday at Edison High.
Keenan Allen rushed for all three Huntington Beach touchdowns.
Allen was part of a Pee Wee Gold Chargers rushing attack that
featured the running of Lance Lavage, Dan Samarin and Mike Bogard.
The foursome churned up yardage behind the blocking of Joe Green,
Christopher Halamandaris, Mike Wise, Keiki Kamai and Jake Michado.
In holding the Jaguars to just two scores, Huntington Beach’s
defense was anchored by Kamai, Halamandaris, Anthony Buckley, Chad
Smith, Chris Voss, Chris Awe and Craig Sirois.
Bogard and Kamai also figured in several key defensive stops.
Allen and Troy Bitar powered the special teams for the Pee Wee
Gold Chargers, who travel Saturday to take on Brea.
