‘Eaters add another to roster

Nic Campbell, a 6-6 forward, has signed an Athletic Grant-In-Aid

with the UC Irvine men’s basketball program and will be a freshman at

UCI beginning this fall quarter.

Campbell is currently playing for the Australian Institute of

Sport (AIS) in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL).

He is averaging 17 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for AIS, which

placed first in the regular season standings with an 18-6 record in

the East Conference of the SEABL.

Campbell scored 28 points in a 106-92 win over Frankston in the

regular-season finale. He is shooting 43 percent from the field,

including 40 percent from three-point range, in 24 games. Campbell,

who is second on the team with 82 assists, is shooting 75 percent

from the free-throw line.

Playoffs begin this weekend in the SEABL, which is a member of the

Australian Basketball Association.

Four starters return for the Anteaters, including junior center

Adam Parada and senior forward Jordan Harris, who each averaged 12.4

points per game last season.

Parada, who led UCI in rebounding at 7.0 boards per game, was

named to second-team All-Big West, while Harris was selected

honorable mention after averaging 6.8 rebounds.

Other returning starters for UCI are junior forward Stanislav

Zuzak (8.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and senior guard Mike Hood (8.2 ppg, 2.6

apg).

Pat Douglass, entering his sixth season as UCI’s head coach, has

led the Anteaters to 60 victories over the past three seasons.
