CdM boys win in Maui

A tie was the only blemish, if you want to call a tie a blemish,
for the Corona del Mar boys 14-and-under junior water polo team as
they won the championship in the third annual Maui Invitational, Aug.
4-11.
CdM went 3-0-1 in their run to the title as it beat two Hawaiian
teams and a team from Northern California, 9-8, in the 54-team
tournament that featured teams from as far east as Maryland in the
five-day event.
The tie against a Northern California team came when the referees
called two different decisions on the same play.
Nonetheless, Tom Money took home Most Valuable Player honors for
Coach Ted Bandaruk and assistant coach John Money’s team.
Players making up the team include Justin Hupp, Ryan Hultman, Clay
Russell, Jake Campbell, Ryan Kent, Brendan O’Hara, Tyler Kent and
Marshall Tutton.
Coach Bandaruk’s next stop is the Oahu Tournament with the CdM
junior 14-and-under girls team.
