* Crescent Bay Beach: A Santa Ana man was cited for spearing six
ghirabaldis, the protected state fish, at 10:46 a.m.
* Bluebird Canyon Drive: A Laguna resident reported a bag of
mysterious green rocks some workers discovered while they installed
closet organizers in the 1600 block at 12:30 p.m. The resident called
back when they realized it was a bag of improperly disposed fish
rocks.
* Cedar Place: A car parked in the wrong direction was hit when a
1998 silver Mercedes 560 attempted to maneuver between it and another
parked car in the 100 block at 12:29 p.m.
* El Morro/North Coast Highway: A woman was reported walking in
the roadway near the intersection at 2:34 p.m. She was advised by
officers and complied.
* Sleepy Hollow: A Laguna resident was arrested on an outstanding
warrant for failing to appear on a marijuana possession charge in the
600 block at 2:13 p.m. He was taken to Orange County Jail in lieu of
$357 bail.
* Temple Hills Drive: A Laguna woman was startled from her sleep
by an unknown woman standing next to her bed in the 2000 block at
3:07 p.m. The victim confronted the suspect who fled the house. She
later discovered that a laptop computer, $200 in cash and her
passport were gone. Entry was gained through an unlocked side door.
* Broadway: A young woman reported that a strange man asked her
and her friends if they would like a ride in the 200 block at 4 p.m.
Aug. 1
* Diamond Street: A Los Angeles man was arrested for driving
under the influence after he struck two parked cars and fled on foot
in the 600 block at 3:08 a.m.
* Crescent Bay Park: A patrol officer noticed a parked vehicle
with several occupants and smoke coming out of the sunroof at 2:46
a.m. A Tustin resident admitted that she was in possession of
methamphetamine. She was arrested for possession of a controlled
substance and drug paraphernalia and taken to Orange County Jail in
lieu of $10,500 bail.
* Ocean Avenue: Officers stopped a 64-year-old driver after he
allegedly backed into another car in the 300 block at 3:10 p.m. No
injuries or damage was reported.
* North Coast Highway: A driver fell asleep at the wheel and
struck four vehicles headed southbound at 3:28 p.m. No injuries were
reported and the driver was cited for making an unsafe turn leading
to a traffic accident.
Saturday
* Tablerock Beach: Police responded to a call of a bonfire at the
beach at 12:14 a.m. They found several people playing musical
instruments and told them the beach was closed. Upon discovering a
paraphernalia pipe on a blanket they cited three of the revelers for
possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
* Capistrano Avenue: One potted sago palm was reported stolen
during the night from a resident’s driveway in the 2000 block at 7:24
a.m. Value $550. Sun Valley Drive: A Laguna resident reported that a
diamond ring was stolen in the 20000 block at 7:02 p.m. The suspect
is a Laguna man. Value $600.
* Heisler Park: An Aliso Viejo resident was cited for public
nudity at 9:17 p.m.
Saturday
North Coast Highway: A woman standing in a parking space to save
it for her parents was allegedly hit by another vehicle that backed
into her in the 300 block at 11:09 a.m. She was not injured and no
arrests were made.
* North Coast Highway/Ocean Avenue: Officers transported a Laguna
transient to South Coast Medical Center for medical evaluation after
he was observed walking in heavy traffic without regard to signals or
his safety near the intersection at 1:02 p.m.
* Temple Hills Drive: A Laguna resident reported that his trash
cans were missing in the 2000 block at 2:10 p.m.
* Glenneyre Street/Legion Street: A husband and wife riding on
their Vespas were cut off by a silver Saab and collided near the
intersection at 3:58 p.m. The wife suffered an open fracture to her
finger and scrapes and abrasions. She was transported to South Coast
Medical Center.
Sunday
Agate Street: A vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block at
7:58 p.m.
Forest Avenue: A man walked into a jewelry store and tried to
purchase a Rolex wristwatch with stolen checks in the 200 block at
11:27 a.m.
Diamond Street: Officers were called to a loud house party in the
600 block at 11:45 p.m.
Tuesday
Santa Ana Street: A driver was sideswiped in the 1000 block at
8:06 p.m.
