Air Force Staff Sgt. Karen E. Hiers, daughter of Laurel M. Harper

of Crestline and Larry Wilhelm of Huntington Beach, has been deployed

to a forward operating area to support the mission of Operation

Enduring Freedom. The mission supports the war against global

terrorism in combating the international terrorist network or regime

forces outside the United States. Hiers is a 1985 graduate of Los

Alamitos High School.... Christine L. Rinehart of Huntington Beach

graduated from Boston University this spring with a bachelor’s degree

in anthropology.... Jennifer Milicent Lindsay, daughter of Edward and

Gloria Lindsay of Fountain Valley, won the String Competition in the

Western Region of the National Assn. of Negro Musicians. Lindsay is

also a recent graduate with distinction from Harvey Mudd College. She

has been awarded a National Physical Science Consortium Graduate

Fellowship and she will pursue a doctoral degree in Mathematical

Science at Columbia University....
