Swim Olympics set for Aug.17
A summer of swimming culminates with an Olympic competition fit
for children.
Swimmers ages 2 to 12 participating in the Costa Mesa Recreation
Division’s Learn to Swim program this summer will have a chance to
show parents and friends what they’ve learned throughout the summer
when the fourth annual Swim Olympics takes place from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. Aug. 17 at Costa Mesa High School’s pool.
Youngsters will swim in specific races that include noodle races,
kick board races, the bubble contest and relay races.
Every child will receive a ribbon or medal.
A newly-added parents race will be part of the meet as parents
compete in a relay race, having to swim with a T-shirt on, then take
it off as the next team member swims with it.
Cost is $3 per child and includes lunch for two. Extra lunches are
$2 per person. Call Ken Sipes at (714) 327-7561.
