Flamenco fest with flair
The passion, power and poetry of flamenco will come to the Irvine
Barclay Theatre at the end of the week. Starting Friday, the Barclay
will present the New World Flamenco Festival, a series of
performances by three flamenco companies.
The festival is one of the three largest in America -- the other
two are in New York City and Albuquerque, N.M.
It will kick off with Compania Juana Amaya, performing Friday
through Aug. 11.
On Aug. 13-14, Yaelisa & Caminos Flamencos will present the world
premiere of “Desde Cadiz Pa Aca,” which translates to “From Cadiz to
Here.”
Compania Flamenca Andres Marin, pictured, will close out the fest
Aug. 16-18 with “Mas alla del Tiempo.”
