Driver held in road rage incident
A case of road rage ended with one driver being slashed on the arm
in Newport Beach Friday morning.
Thirty-two-year old Robert Laveriere of Long Beach was driving his
2001 white Jeep Cherokee into the parking lot of a medical building
in the 300 block of San Miguel, when he said he was cut off by
William Barker, 22, of Laguna Niguel, who was driving a gold 1992
four-door Honda, said Sgt. Steve Shulman of the Newport Beach Police
Department.
Laveriere said he blinked his lights at Barker after he was cut
off, Shulman said.
At that point, Barker got out of his car, approached Laveriere and
cut him with some type of blade on the arm, Shulman said.
Laveriere was not seriously injured, Shulman added.
Officials arrested Barker as he entered the medical building.
