An entire weekend this in July will be devoted to celebrating the 30th
Reunion for Laguna Beach High School’s class of l972.
Nearly 100 people from the community, New York, Colorado, Montana,
Florida, Oregon, Indiana and Washington D.C. are expected to attend, said
Melissa Almon, spokesperson for the planning committee.
“We see this is as a chance for people to reconnect and maybe get to
know others they didn’t know in high school,” said Almon. “No matter what
paths our lives have taken, we all share our experience as a class of
Laguna Beach High School.”
The committee that began planning for the event in November 2001
includes Almon, K.C. Cooper, Gary Fisette, Mark Dawson, Mike Marriner and
Libby Shackford.
A no-host mixer for alumni and faculty will take place from 7 to 10
p.m., July 12 at the Sandpiper, 1183 South Coast Highway.
The reunion will include food, live jazz and later live rock ‘n’ roll
and dancing from 6 to 11:30 p.m., July 13 at the Hotel Laguna, 425 South
Coast Highway.
The weekend will conclude with a family picnic from noon to 3 p.m.,
July 14 at the home of Libby Shackford. Members of the classes of 1971
and 1973 are invited to attend the picnic.
The cost is $65 per person on or before June 20, and $75 per person
from June 20 to July l. There will be no registration at the door. All
alumni are encouraged to sign up at www.classmates.com so that further
updates and Reunion Weekend information can be distributed to everyone.
