SG G-Men win AAA crown
-- Mike Sciacca
The SG G-Men capped an undefeated run through the AAA Division
postseason playoffs Tuesday by holding off Nolan, 18-15, in the
championship game.
The G-Men ran out to a 15-2 lead over Nolan, the regular season
champion, then staved off a late comeback.
The pitching of Tyler MacRae kept Nolan bats mostly quiet for the
first four innings, and the defensive play of infielders Jackson Christy,
Jake Glazer, Sean Kimball and Raphael Vickers, and outfielders Alex
Gromet, Matt Anderson, Tyce Phillip and Robbie Quellmalz helped hold
Nolan to two runs.
MacRae was relieved by Ian Greene and Andrew Shapero.
The hitting of Paul Soloman, Shane Korber, Brian Vail, Sean Spera,
Michael Neihbur and Clayton Steele sparked Nolan’s late comeback attempt.
Michael Opera and Ryan Raffo shared Nolan’s pitching duties and Stevie
Contursi, Garrett Hartwell and Kelan Lindley led the defense.
