Prep baseball: Tars’ Vandersloot honored
Newport Harbor High senior Jon Vandersloot, who earned second-team
honors, is the lone Sailor among the coaches’ All-Sea View League
baseball selections.
Vandersloot, who played outfield and third base, had 10 of his 22 hits
against Sea View pitching. Vandersloot’s hit totals, both league and
overall, tied for tops on the team.
Vandersloot, who hit a team-best .290 for the season, had five RBIs,
two stolen bases and a pair of triples.
Laguna Hills High senior Daniel Miltenberger is the league’s Most
Valuable Player.
