Trolleys of a different color
Barbara Diamond
It will look like Christmas in July when Laguna’s two new trolleys
take to the streets for festival season.
Councilwoman Toni Iseman objected to the “parrot green’ trash cans
provided by the city’s garbage collector. Wait until she sees these
trolleys, currently stored in the city’s corporation yard. The bright red
and green trolleys are not what folks are used to in Laguna.
“When you see them, you will not be surprised that they were last used
in Las Vegas,’ said City Manager Ken Frank.
The trolleys are being leased from a private company to augment the
summer tram schedule. It would cost about $10,000 per trolley to paint
with city colors and then repaint them after the festival season, Frank
said.
