Honors: Lightning quartet honored
NEWPORT COAST - A quartet of Sage Hill High athletes have been
chosen first-team All-Academy League by coaches in four different sports.
Sophomore Tim Wilkins the Lightning’s leading hitter and pitcher, was
a first-team honoree in baseball.
Junior Kevin Joyce, who consistently led the Lightning in kills and
some other statistical categories, has been recognized by the league’s
boys volleyball coaches.
Sophomore Braden Barnett, who won the league shot put title competing
as an individual (the school does not yet have a track and field team) is
a first-team choice, while John Y. Kim is a first-team recipient for his
prowess on the golf course.
Junior Zach Friedrichs (baseball), Alexa Shitanishi (softball), Drew
Roeser (boys tennis), Katrina Redelsheimer (softball), Jonathan Baskin
(boys tennis), Jessica Torina (softball) and Ian Livingston (boys tennis)
are second-team honorees in their respective sports.
Roeser, Baskin and Livingston led the Lightning to a third-place
league finish and a berth in the CIF Southern Section Division V
Playoffs.
Macsun Frederick, a sophomore volleyball standout, earned honorable
mention.
