A’s take showdown with White Sox

It took extra innings to decide which team would assume sole
possession of first place in the race for the second half Majors Division
title at Huntington Valley Little League, and it was the A’s who
prevailed over the White Sox, 6-3, in eight innings.
The White Sox had scored three runs in their first at-bat to grab
command at 3-0, but then Alex Barnes came on in relief in the fourth
inning and preceded to shutout the Sox the remainder of the game.
Barnes also keyed the A’s offense with a double among two hits.
Teammates Trevor Springman, Kyle Lueke, Cody Moran and Paul McBeth each
also doubled and singled.
Drew Duffy also had a pair of hits and Danny Watt and Race Parmenter
each contributed singles to the A’s cause.
Chris Kindness singled twice, Justin Thompson and Michael Bogard each
doubled, and Jimmy Miller and Kyle Shibel each singled to led the Sox on
offense.

Angels 7, A’s 6
Prior to their showdown with the White Sox, the A’s had their win
streak halted at 13 games by the Angels in this extra inning thriller.
The Halos did it by racking up 14 hits on the day including a home run
and two singles by Erik Morentin.
Jake Gordon, Kasey Crandall and Julien Herrera each had two hits and
Johnny Olive doubled for the Angels.
The A’s lost despite getting 17 hits. Drew Duffy and Cody Moran each
went three for three with a double, Danny Watt also had three hits, Mike
McDougal had two hits and Race Parmenter had a triple.
Mariners 6, Rangers 2
Justin Draeger’s outstanding pitching performance included 11
strikeouts to go along with a four hitter. Karcher Morris led the
Mariners on offense with three singles and two runs scored. Fineau Fiaseu
doubled, singled and scored twice, Ryan Wirtz doubled and Draeger and
Nick Gialenes each singled.
The Rangers had hits from Trevor Briggs, Tyler Goodman, Weston
Stephens and Brian Gianone.
Diamondbacks 7, Mets 2
The D-backs won on nine hits featuring a three for three game by
Clayton Prestridge who doubled and scored twice, two hits and two runs
scored by Barry Luke, and singles by Devin Huskins and Dalton Heikka.
Tanner Phillips threw three, strong innings of relief for the D-backs.
For the Mets, Brian Schwartz led the hitting with an RBI double. Shawn
Stiffler, Fred Thomas, Nick Mazzone, Tim Higgins and Ricky Marin all
singled.
Mets 7, Rangers 1
The Mets earned this victory behind the pitching of Fred Thomas, who
struck out 15 while allowing only one hit, a single by Brayden Kent.
Offensively, the Mets had two hits each from Brian Schwartz, Richard
Levinson, Nick Mazzone and Shawn Stiffler. Dave Folger doubled and
Huntington Hardesty, Josh Reisinger and Tim Higgins each singled.
Tony Ciarelli scored the lone run for the Rangers.
Diamondbacks 10, Mariners 0
Kord Weber led the D-backs with a double, two singles and three RBI,
Barry Luke, Devin Huskins and Rob Toth, who tripled, each contributed two
hits. Weber and Huskins combined for the shutout pitching victory.
The Mariners’ three hits came from Adam Martinazzi, Nick Gialenes and
Christian Slaton.
