At tonight’s school board meeting, the Newport-Mesa Unified School
District trustees will hear an update on the Measure A School Facilities
Improvement program.
They will also vote on whether to accept grant funds for the HOPE
School Readiness Pilot program and the School Readiness Initiative
contracts.
The board approved the grant agreement in December.
The grant will enhance the state preschool program at Whittier
Elementary School by funding the position of director of early childhood
education, provide parenting classes and health services to preschool
children, and establishing the HOPE Readiness Resource Center for
teachers and parents to access curriculum, material and other
information.
The grant will also provide preschool services for an additional 48
children at Wilson Elementary School.
The board will also consider some English, math and foreign language
textbooks for approval.
The meeting is at 7 p.m. at district headquarters, 2985-A Bear St.,
Costa Mesa, (714) 424-5000.
