Newport Harbor Baseball Association: Dodgers come back to win, 8-4
NEWPORT BEACH - The Dodgers posted six runs in the sixth inning to
put away the Yankees in an 8-4 win in Newport Harbor Baseball Association
Bronco Division play.
The Dodger bats came alive in the sixth after the Yankees scored a run
in the second and three runs in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
In the sixth, the Dodgers’ Matt Waller and Christian Hoagland walked
to start the inning. R.J. D’Cruz doubled to score two runs, then Danny
Moskovits doubled to score another run. Brandon Davis singled and John
Swift walked, eventually coming around to score the sixth run of the
inning to put the Dodgers ahead 8-4. D’Cruz led the Dodger offense with a
single and double and Brandon Davis had two singles. Holden Gray-Keough
and Spenser Venegas also added singles.
On defense, Peter Kinney, Trevor Davis and Garrett Morgan played
great.
Moskovits started the game and pitched three strong innings, allowing
one run, striking out three. Swift picked up the middle inning striking
out two, and D’Cruz closed out the game pitching three innings, allowing
one hit and striking out six.
The Yankees received good pitching from Jerry Whitney, who pitched
three innings giving up two runs while striking out three. Whitney also
added a hit. Dusty Campbell doubled and scored two runs and had two RBIs,
while Cameron Chase (who pitched 2 2/3 strong innings), Jackson
Massingill and Kyle Lawrence each added a hit.
