The upcoming performance of “Pirates of Penzance” at Golden West
College will feature a cameo appearance by college foundation Chairman
John McGovern.
McGovern won the honor of being a walk-on actor for the May 17
performance at the school’s annual fund-raiser gala.
“I am looking forward to my moment of fame,” said McGovern.
The retired senior vice president of Toyota Motor Sales USC, Inc, won
the walk-on part at the annual Golden West College Gala held in February
at the Waterfront Hilton Hotel. He has been chairman of the Golden West
College Foundation Board for four years and a member of the board since
1991.
“Mr. McGovern makes a significant difference on the board,” said
Margie Bunten, director of public relations and institutional advancement
for the college.
The board organizes the annual Gala and all proceeds go to students in
the form of scholarships and special projects.
“Pirates of Penzance”, directed by Bruce Bales and choreographed by
Grant Rosen will run May 10-19, at 15744 Golden West St. Tickets can be
purchased by calling (714) 895-8150.
