o7 The Independent went to the Huntington Beach Boys and Girls Club

to ask children, “What are you most proud of and why?”

“I’m most proud of the time I helped my younger sister with her

homework. Sometimes I can be mean but one day she started crying because

she didn’t have anyone to help her. I stopped what I was doing so I could

help.”

“I helped someone who was new in PE. I showed her around and now we’re

friends.”

Tiago Santana, 8

“I’m proud that I am free. I’ve been learning about third world

countries. In this country I can speak for myself. If I’m sick I can get

treated or vaccines.”

Kyle Knight, 12

“My family because they’re very loving and nice to me and tell me a

lot that they’re proud of me.”

Veronica Wisrock, 10

“That I take care of my family and help my mom and dad. I help my

younger brother with his homework and help him learn his favorite

sports.”
