Newport Beach students introduced to real world
Newport Beach high school students got a whiff of the real world on
Thursday when they paired with mentors in the field of their interest.
Twenty-five students from Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar high
schools followed their mentors to places including restaurants,
photographic studios and the fire department to see them in action.
The event, sponsored by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, started
with a breakfast at the Radisson Hotel.
Keynote Speaker Jang Huang discussed the angst he went through trying
to settle on a career before settling down at Jaguar Cars North America.
After participating in activities like making pizza, checking out the
bowels of John Wayne Airport and getting a make-over, the students and
their mentors came back to the hotel for lunch and shared what they had
learned.
