College men’s golf: Anteaters finish 6th at Pacific Coast tourney
LOMPOC - The UC Irvine men’s golf team tied for sixth place out of
19 teams in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate tournament at the La
Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc.
San Diego State won the 54-hole tournament with a total of 866, 12
shots ahead of runner-up Fresno State’s 878. UCI and Nevada tied for
sixth at 899.
Pacific’s Jason Higton was the individual champion with a 4-under
total of 212. San Diego State’s John Lieber and Mark Warman tied for
second at 2-under 214.
Junior Mike Lavery was UCI’s top finisher in 21st place at 223 (69-80-74). Kevin Stevens finished 27th at 224 (72-75-77), Nate Yates
39th at 226 (74-74-78), Jeff Coburn 59th at 230 (76-77-77), and Ryan
Armstrong was 67th at 231 (75-77-79).
UCI returns to action hosting the Anteater Invitational at the SCPGA
Champions Course in Calimesa March 25-26.
