Behind the Scenes -- Jackie Bouchey
June Casagrande
NAME: Jackie Bouchey
HOME: Huntington Beach
JOB TITLE: Sponsor services chairwoman
SHE IS
The volunteer who keeps sponsors coming back
DAILY DUTIES
Jackie Bouchey works with sponsors to ensure they have an excellent
experience at the tournament. Overseeing a staff of two other volunteers,
Bouchey’s the one who makes sure the sponsors are happy with the food at
their hospitality booths, hands out gifts for sponsors to participate in
the pro-am events, helps coordinate Sponsor Day and does everything she
can to keep sponsors happy.
“I’m here to make sure the sponsors have a good experience; that’s
what it’s all about,” Bouchey said.
On the biggest tour days, Bouchey, owner of Huntington Beach-based
Windows & More By Jackie, walks up and down the course. She stops at all
the hospitality spots, where sponsors and their invited guests gather, to
make sure everyone got the right number of tickets, that their food
arrived on time and that they were able to park their cars.
“The tournament does a really good job of offering all different types
of sponsorship opportunities,” she said. “Some at some hospitality
stations, there may be only about 15 people, whereas at others there can
easily be upward of 100.”
A former manager of the Newport Beach Country Club, Bouchey said it
was an easy transition to the volunteer post she first assumed five years
ago.
“I think it’s important to give back to the community, and when you
look at the fact that the tournament has raised more than $1 million for
charity last year, this is just a great way to give back.”
