In a Feb. 26 story about the race for county judgeship Office No. 22,
several items need to be clarified. Vickie Bridgman handled civil cases
prior to working for the public defender, not the other way around as
reported. Also, in a case Bridgman handled, the sentence for a woman who
accepted a plea deal on a drunk driving charge was incorrectly reported.
The woman served at least 120 days under house arrest, but no jail time
and was paid about $65,000 in a settlement to a complaint against
Bridgman. The story also incorrectly reported that Bridgman would recuse
herself from all drunk driving cases if elected. She only plans to recuse
herself from teenage reckless driving cases.
