Little League: Opening day approaches
The Costa Mesa National Little League opening ceremonies will be
held Saturday.
A parade featuring the teams will begin at 11 a.m. Awards for the team
banner contest and preseason fundraiser will be announced. Mayor Linda
Dixon will throw out the first pitch. Councilwoman Karen Robinson and
school board member Jim Ferryman will also participate in opening
ceremonies. A barbeque will follow with afternoon games beginning at 1
p.m.
In opening day games for the Majors, the Dodgers take on the D’Backs
(National Field, 8 a.m.), the Astros face the Cardinals (National Field 1
p.m.), and the Marlins battle the American League’s No. 1 team (American Field, 1 p.m.).
In Minor A competition, the Marlins play the Astros (National Field, 8
a.m.), the Dodgers challenge the Cardinals (National Field, 1 p.m.), and
American League’s No. 1 team faces the D’Backs (American Field, 1 p.m.).
In Minor B action, the D’Backs take on the Dodgers (National Field, 8
a.m.), the Marlins battle the Astros (National Field, 1 p.m.) and
American League’s No. 1 team faces the Cardinals (American Field, 3
p.m.).
