Lincoln Elementary School is celebrating its 10th anniversary today,
and many of the people who helped open the school will be on hand to
commemorate a decade of academic achievement.
The Corona del Mar school opened in 1982 and was honored as a
California Distinguished School and a national Blue Ribbon School within
its first six years.
Former teachers and the original principal, Bruce Crockard, will be
part of the celebration.
“We’re very excited,” Principal Barbara Rothman-Haddock said. “It’s
fun to reminisce and look back at how much Lincoln has accomplished in
just 10 years.”
As part of the event, students from each grade will read an essay
about what the school means to them. Essays from all students will be
placed in a time capsule, Rothman-Haddock said.
After school, students whose families bought tiles will paint the
tiles. The tiles will later be displayed on the school’s campus.
